10 years later

10 years ago I was unemployed and sleeping when the phone rang.  My friend Dan called and said a plane flew into the World Trade Center. I went back to sleep for a minute until my brain digested what he had said.  I turned on the TV and spent the day watching in horror as that day's events unfolded.  I consider this the first moment in my life that I remember when something "significant" occured in history.  It still stings, even ten years later.

The Bubbs return to the Big O.

So I'm 41 minutes early for work, and I love to blog in the PayPal parking lot so why not put up a post about this weekend?
Mini-Bubbs/Little Bubbs aka Toliver was so good all weekend.  The only problems he seemed to have were an insatible hunger for McDonalds and a propencity for efficiently utilizing every piece of soil in a given area to get himself dirty.  He finds creative ways and places to get dirty.  But he is five years old, so mastering a skill is always a good thing.
My Bubbs still loves me.  I figured that 4 days multiplied by 30 Webbs would have her not talking to me for a while, but not the case.  Shannon had a great time and so did I.
There was something said to Shannon this week that touched me when she said it.  One of my relatives asked her, "What did you do to Paul?"
"What do you mean?" she replied.
"He's different...keep it up."
I'm happy.  That's what's different.

I meant to post this a while ago, but late is better than never.

Cars 2 on a Saturday morning.

With dinner not being served until 2 or 3, Toliver, Grandma, and I went and checked out the new Cars 2 movie.  Toliver loved it, I think the first one was better.

Finally hit the golf course.

You know I had a really productive day yesterday.  I did three loads of laundry, golfed nine holes, went swimming with my Bubbs, and then went on NachoTypical Date Night, that ended up even more NachoTypical then we planned, but, Damn, my wardrobe is upgraded.

Putting the blog out there for more people to see

With the Family Reunion upcoming and my complete lack of updating on Facebook to let everyone know what a wonderful time I have been having with my Bubbs over the past months, I'm going to put a link to the GreazyPorkBlog on my Facebook, heck I'll even Tweet it, see if any of those 5 followers there check it out.

194 hits on the blog at this time, we will see if that jumps over the next few days.

Toliver and Bubbs, the Introduction

Shannon and I took a drive to Lincoln last night to pick up Toliver and take him to dinner.  After we picked him up and he said he wanted Burger King for dinner, (that wasn't happening,) we drove down O street and parked to look on the Smartphone for somewhere to eat when I looked up and saw one of everyone in the car's favorite things;
Bar B Que
We ate at Parker's Smokehouse.  My mouth began to water as soon as the smoke hit my nostrils.  There was a bit of a wait but I knew it would be worth it.  As we waited Toliver sat on my lap and we talked.  Shannon found out over the course of the evening that Toliver is my Mini-Me.  Even down to him saying something that I say all the time.  "I'm always right."

When Shannon left for the bathroom I asked him what he thought.
     "She's awesome."
"What makes you say that?" I probed further.
     "She's funny."
I can't argue with that.  Another one of the reasons I love my Bubbs.  Now we get to look forward to the reunion and 4th of July.

Invincible

Here I sit on a lovely Nebraska morning, less than an hour after leaving my Bubbs.

As I left the house this morning I grabbed a CD that I knew I burned, but wasn't sure what it was.  When I put it into the CD player I knew what CD it was immediately.  The first plinks of Eddie Vedder's "Longing to Belong" gave it away.  This was the CD I burned for Bubbs about 3 months ago.  I continued to drive to work and skip through a track or two, and while I'm headed up the ramp at Harrison "Invincible" by Crossfade queues up.

Next thing I know I'm smiling with tears streaming down my cheeks.  That's nothing like me.  I'm so in love and I am so thankful for that fact.  This is really what I've always been looking for.
I love you Shannon!

400 Pop A Lock calls

What is this a picture of?

A Pop A Lock technician who has just finished his 400th ticket.  It was a tire change in the heat.  I personally thought dude should have been able to do it himself, but hey, easy money for me.

She smiles at me even when I'm at work.

A few weeks ago I brought my Bubbs the picture frame that I had received from work, years ago.  I now have someone who I want a picture to fill that frame.

It took her a couple of weeks, but now I have a picture of my Bubbs staring at me all day long at work.  When I look at it I just think that she is smiling at me.

My Bubbs is beautiful and I love looking into her beautiful hazel eyes, in the photo and in person.  Speaking of which, she will be here in about 30 minutes so we can go have chicken wings for lunch at the Island, kind of our Sunday tradition.

Selflessness

My Bubbs is such a wonderful addition to my life.  I love her so much.  One of the reasons why I love her so much is her selflessness sometimes.  There are times when she is all about making me happy.  I really like that.  I enjoy doing the same for her.  The other night she said her feet hurt, so we got a bottle of lotion, and I rubbed her  feet.  It made her feet feel better, and that made me happy.  Last night my back hurt, and she was more than willing to help me stretch out so I feel better today.

I love my Bubbs!!!!!  She is wicked awesome hardcore!!!

Shooting Star

So I achieved the Shooting Star award at work for my performance in the month of March.  I didn't get the luncheon, but I did get a $25 eBay gift card.  I had to use that to get my Bubbs some Katy Perry OPI nail polish that she can wear to the Katy Perry concert.

I really still can't believe that I enjoy that Katy Perry CD as much as I do.  Is that an indictment of my manhood?  I don't think so, because it makes my lady happy, and that's very important to me.

So we got into our first fight.

I don't really care to blog about it, I just can't wait to fix it.  Unfortunately I have to wait to later to do so.

I didn't really know what happiness was.

Being on this planet for 36 years now I thought at some point I had to know what happiness was.   I have now found that what I may have felt happy about before pales in comparison to the joy that I feel everyday now.

I never believed in the type of love that is sung about in love songs or that is potrayed in the movies, but I found it.  I didn't believe in it until it smacked me across the face.  Now that I have it, I don't want to let it go.

How wonderful it is that I've found the female version of myself.  The little odd idiocyncacies that I thought made me different from everyone, well they do, with the exception of her.  We share those things.

Now I've never been a bed maker, ask my mother.  But now, I'm making sure that the bed is made, and just the way she wants it, just so I can make her happy.  And it does, and she appreciates it.

I love being in love.
